Slapp Happy was a German/English avant-pop group formed in Hamburg, Germany, in 1972. The band consisted of Anthony Moore on keyboards, Peter Blegvad on guitar, and Dagmar Krause on vocals. Their debut single, "Just a Conversation", was released in 1972, followed by their first album, Sort Of, later that year. In early 1973, Slapp Happy moved to England and signed with Virgin Records. They re-recorded their second album, Casablanca Moon, which was released in 1974. The band collaborated with Henry Cow and recorded a Top Gear session for the BBC in June 1974. Despite critical acclaim, internal tensions led to the group's disbandment in 1975. Slapp Happy reunited briefly in 1982 and created an opera called Camera, released the album Ça Va in 1998, and performed shows around the world. Their unique sound, characterized by Dagmar Krause’s distinctive vocals, had an influence on the avant-pop genre.
