Definition of Sound was a London-based dance-music group formed in 1988, consisting of Kevin Clark and Don Weekes. The duo initially recorded together under the name Top Billin, releasing two songs, "Naturally" and "Straight From the Soul", on the Dance Yard record label before signing to Phonogram for the single "My Thing/Surprise". In 1990, they changed their name to Definition of Sound and signed to Circa in the UK and Cardiac in the US. Their debut album Love and Life: A Journey With the Chameleons (1991) featured four singles, including "Now Is Tomorrow" and "Moira Jane's Café", which reached Number 68 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart and became the first UK Rap record to hit Number 1 on the Billboard Dance Charts, respectively. The group also released The Lick (1992) and Experience (1996), with notable tracks like "Pass The Vibes" reaching Number 49 on Triple J Hottest 100 of 1996. Before releasing a planned fourth album, the band decided to stop recording in 1997. Clark went on to work in A&R and music publishing, while Weekes released a solo album before leaving the music industry.
