Siegfried Behrend, born on November 19, 1933, in Berlin, Germany, was a guitarist and composer. He studied at the Klindworth Scharwenka Conservatory before focusing on the guitar. By the early 1960s, Behrend had established himself internationally through his performances and collaborations with singer Belina. Together, they represented German culture in over 120 countries, releasing several LPs and appearing in numerous television shows. After parting ways with Belina, Behrend married actress Claudia Brodzinska. He led the Saarland Plucked String Orchestra from 1960 to 1973 and the German Plucked String Orchestra from 1968 until 1990. Behrend also hosted television programs such as Die Geschichte der Gitarre in 1963. He was known for promoting contemporary and avant-garde works for guitar, including premiering pieces by Anestis Logothetis and Klaus Hashagen. He passed away on September 20, 1990, in Hausham, Germany.
