Domingo Samudio, famously known as Sam the Sham, is celebrated for his distinctive persona adorned in camp robes and a turban, alongside his tenure with The Pharaohs. Born on February 28, 1937, in Dallas, Texas, Samudio embarked on his musical journey in second grade, which later led him to form a band with friends, including Trini Lopez. His music career took off after serving in the Navy and attending Arlington State College, ultimately dropping out to pursue music full-time. Sam the Sham gained fame in the mid-1960s with the Pharaohs with hits like "Wooly Bully" (1964) and "Li'l Red Riding Hood" (1966), which became top 40 successes. After the peak of his career, he explored various endeavors, including acting and motivational speaking, and was inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame in 2016.
