Stiltskin was founded in Scotland in 1994. The project emerged from the British alternative rock and post-grunge scene. The founder is the producer Peter Lawlor. The line-up includes Ray Wilson on vocals, James Finnigan on bass and Ross McFarlane on drums. Stiltskin began working on their first recordings in 1994. The style combines alternative rock, grunge influences and distinctive guitar riffs. The single "Inside" was released in 1994. The song becomes the project's international breakthrough. It reached number 1 in the British singles charts and high positions in several European countries, including Germany and France. The single becomes well known through a commercial for Levi's. The album The Mind's Eye is released in the same year. The album reaches number 8 in the British album charts and establishes the band in the European rock market. Following the success of The Mind's Eye, the original line-up largely disintegrates. Ray Wilson later joins Genesis, replacing Phil Collins as singer. Peter Lawlor continues to work as a producer and songwriter. In 2006, Stiltskin re-formed with Ray Wilson as the central figure. This phase saw new releases such as the album She (2006). Unfulfillment follows in 2011, which is more acoustic and incorporates elements of folk rock and progressive rock. A further album entitled Live is released in the context of later touring activities.
