Povl Dissing, born on January 27, 1938, in Farum, Denmark was a Danish singer known for his unique and emotional vocal style. He initially played the trumpet but switched to guitar after an injury. Dissing's music career began with his album debut En aften i folkeklubben in 1965. His breakthrough came in 1973 with the album Svantes viser, a collaboration with poet Benny Andersen, which was later selected for the Danish Culture Canon in 2006. Throughout his career, Dissing released numerous albums, including Lykkeland (1977) and Mor Danmark (1977). He collaborated with notable Danish musicians such as Cæsar, Benny Holst, and Peter Thorup. Dissing passed away on July 18, 2022, at the age of 84.
