Scumbucket, a rock band from Koblenz, Germany, was formed as a side project of Blackmail guitarist Kurt Ebelhäuser. The band began in 1996 when Ebelhäuser, Dylan Kennedy, and Michael Fritsche started rehearsing together. Their debut album, Heliophobe, was released in September 1997 following a six-day recording session. After extensive touring, Scumbucket recorded their second album, Batuu, which was released in November 1998. Bassist Dylan Kennedy left the band shortly after, replaced by Guido Lucas. The group's subsequent albums included Finistra (2000) and Aficionados (2002). In August 2002, they released the EP Día Castado / Otra Día. One of their most successful albums, Kiss than Kind, was released in April 2005. Following this release, Guido Lucas departed and was succeeded by Dylan Kennedy. Scumbucket re-recorded their debut album as Heliophobia in November 2009, followed by Sarsaparilla in April 2010.
