A conductor specializing in early music, Briton Robert Hollingworth moved from Hereford Cathedral choir to Oxford University, where he studied under his elder Edward Higginbottom, and then to London's Guildhall School of Music. The founder of the I Fagiolini ensemble in 1986, he began recording in 1991, while also taking on a host of other projects and activities (music consultant, BBC presenter). After a number of recitals devoted to Monteverdi and Tomkins, in 2011 he premiered an essential work from the recently unearthed repertoire, Mass in 40 Parts by Italian composer Alessandro Striggio.
