Marty Panzer is an American songwriter who is known for his long-time collaboration with Barry Manilow. Raised in Brooklyn, New York City, he grew up just blocks away from Manilow, and the two first met while working together in the CBS-TV mailroom in New York. Panzer became Manilow’s first songwriting partner and went on to write more than 30 songs recorded by him, contributing to Manilow’s early catalog and commercial success. Beyond his work with Manilow, Panzer has written extensively for film and television, including over a hundred songs for Disney Pictures, with credits on projects such as Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World and The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride. He also co-wrote the song “Through the Years,” performed by Kenny Rogers. He also received the Annie Award for Music in a Feature Production in 1999.
