Die Moosacher, a German pop and Schlager music group, originated in Munich. The trio was formed on January 30, 1952, by Hansi Döring, Georg Niedermeier, and Rudolf Waggi Schneider. The name of the group is derived from the Munich district of Moosach, where the members first met in a local cinema. The group's initial breakthrough came with their first record release in 1960. Their first album, Heimatabend, was released in 1965. In the following years, Die Moosacher released several albums including Die Moosacher (1970). They were frequent guests on television shows such as Lustige Musikanten on ZDF in the 1970s. Notable songs include “Ja, mir san mit’m Radl da” and “Geh, Alte, schau mi net so deppert an”. The group also released several humorous albums featuring jokes in Bavarian dialect, including the Die besten Stammtisch-Witze series, which spanned 20 volumes. Die Moosacher participated in the Grand Prix der Volksmusik in 1990 with their song “Engerl samma olle net”, which placed number 11 in the German preliminary round. Their final performance together was on October 22, 1999, in Knetzgau. The group disbanded after Döring's death in January 2000 and Niedermeier's death in March 2004.
