Delroy Washington, born November 5, 1952, in Westmoreland, Jamaica, was a reggae singer who moved to London in the early 1960s. He began his music career as a session musician and tour manager, and released his first single, "Lonely Street", in 1973. Washington provided backing vocals for The Wailers' Catch a Fire album and was one of the first reggae artists signed by Virgin Records in the mid-1970s. He released two albums with them: I Sus (1976) and Rasta (1977). Notable songs include "Give All the Praise to Jah" and "Jah Man a Come". After leaving Virgin, he released several singles until the early 1980s. Washington died in London on March 27, 2020, from COVID-19.
