Nancy Claire Vernon, born 7 October 1967 in Canada, is a Canadian singer who emerged from a family of performers; her parents were Nancy West and actor John Vernon, and her sister is actress Kate Vernon. After relocating to Los Angeles at age eight, Nancy Claire Vernon began recording and touring in the late 1980s, including work with Andy Summers. Her breakthrough came when Dave Stewart of Eurythmics discovered her, leading to a collaboration with Dave Stewart & The Spiritual Cowboys, where she performed as Izzy Mae Doorite and contributed backing vocals and rhythm guitar on two albums and during tours. In 1990, she released the single "My Love", followed by "No More Lullabyes" in 1992 and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" in 1993, which established her as an alternative‑rock vocalist. Her debut album Manta Ray was issued in 1994 through Stewart’s Anxious Records, featuring tracks such as "Motorcycle" and "Tattoo Tears". The same year she released the mcd Elvis Waits…, further expanding her discography. Nancy Claire Vernon contributed covers to the Rob Zombie Halloween film series, notably "Mr. Sandman" in 2007 and "Love Hurts" in 2009, cementing her presence in popular media.
