Junior Tucker, born Leslie Tucker on September 23, 1966, in Trenchtown, Kingston, Jamaica, is a reggae singer. He began his musical career at a young age, achieving his first hit with "Happy" at the age of seven, which became a Number 1 single in Jamaica. This early success led to performances at significant events like the One Love Peace Concert in 1978. Junior Tucker's subsequent hits included cover versions of "Some Guys Have All The Luck" and "Mr. Telephone Man", the latter of which was a Top 20 Billboard hit for New Edition in 1984. After studying audio engineering at the Institute of Audio Research in New York City, Junior Tucker began composing his own songs. His first major composition, "Don't Test", became an international hit and earned him a recording contract with Virgin Records in 1989. The song peaked at Number 54 on the UK Singles Chart in June 1990. Following his release from Virgin Records in 1991, Junior Tucker returned to Jamaica and transitioned into dancehall music. He achieved further international success with a reggae cover of Benny Mardones' "Into The Night", titled "16 (Into The Night)". In 1993, he released the album Love Of A Lifetime, which included the Number 1 hit single of the same name. After personal losses and a spiritual awakening, Junior Tucker converted to Christianity and began recording Christian reggae albums, including Brand New and Ready for the Rapture.
