The Ray-O-Vacs were an American R&B vocal group based in New Jersey, active during the 1940s and 1950s. The group included Lester Harris, later replaced by Herb Milliner, Jackson "Flap" McQueen, Joe Crump, and saxophonist Leoparte "Chink" Kinney. The Ray-O-Vacs began their recording career with the Coleman label in 1949. In 1950, they signed with Decca Records, where they released several tracks on the 48000 Rhythm & Blues series, including a cover of "Besame Mucho". Decca dropped the group by the end of 1952. They then moved to Jubilee Records. In May 1953, The Ray-O-Vacs were voted the best small combo in a readers poll by The Pittsburgh Courier. Their last releases were with the Kaiser label in 1957.
