Mario Brunello, born in 1960, in Castelfranco Veneto, Treviso, Italy, is an Italian cellist and musician. He studied with Adriano Vendramelli at the Conservatorio di Musica di Venezia and with Antonio Janigro. In 1986, Brunello won first prize ex aequo with Kirill Rodin in the cello section of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. This victory marked a significant turning point in his career, leading to performances with numerous orchestras worldwide, including the London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, and Munich Philharmonic. He has collaborated with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Zubin Mehta, and Riccardo Muti, and performed chamber music with artists like Martha Argerich and Gidon Kremer. Brunello founded the Orchestra d'Archi Italiana in 1994, serving as both director and soloist. His discography includes notable recordings such as Bach: Sei Suites a Violoncello Solo Senza Basso (2010) and Beethoven: Complete Works for Cello & Piano with Andrea Lucchesini (1998).
