Jim Kweskin, born July 18, 1940, in Stamford, Connecticut, is an American folk, jazz, and blues musician recognized for his guitar stylings, blending ragtime-blues fingerpicking with jazz and blues elements. He founded the Jim Kweskin Jug Band in the 1960s, which modernized pre–World War II rural music during the folk revival. Maria Muldaur joined in 1963, and the band released six albums on Vanguard Records between 1963 and 1970. Notable releases include Jug Band Music (1965) and Garden of Joy (1967). Kweskin also released solo works such as Jim Kweskin's America (1971), Lives Again (1977), and Unjugged (2017). In 2013, a reunion tour featured original members including Jim Kweskin, Maria Muldaur, Geoff Muldaur, Richard Greene, Bill Keith, Cindy Cashdollar, and Sam Bevan.
