Py Bäckman

Marie Elisabet Ulrika Bäckman Wennborn, known professionally as Py Bäckman, was born on July 5, 1948, in Solna, Sweden. She began her musical career at age nine when she was discovered by a radio show and subsequently performed on television in the program Stora famnen in 1957. Bäckman started touring with the all-female rock group NQB in 1973 and later collaborated with Dan Hylander, forming the Raj Montana Band. Their album Sista föreställningen marked a significant breakthrough for Bäckman. Following her split from Hylander in 1988, she pursued a solo career. Bäckman is also known for her songwriting contributions, including "Stad i ljus", which Tommy Körberg performed at the Melodifestivalen in 1988 and represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest.
