Kay Gardner, born on February 8, 1941 in Freeport, New York, was an American musician, composer, author, and Dianic priestess. She began her musical journey at age four with a piano composition and later learned the flute at eight. Gardner's career took off when she released Moon Circles in 1975, pioneering sound healing. In 1974, she collaborated with Alix Dobkin on Lavender Jane Loves Women, one of the first albums produced by an all-lesbian team. Throughout her career, Gardner released several notable albums including Emerging (1978), Moods & Rituals: Meditations For Solo Flutes (1980), and A Rainbow Path (1984). She also composed works for various ensembles and orchestras. In 1995, Gardner received the Maryanne Hartmann Award and an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts from the University of Maine. She passed away on August 28, 2002.
