Pearl Harbor & the Explosions was an American rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1979. The group's debut single "Drivin'" reached the lower end of the American Billboard chart in 1980. That same year, they released their self-titled LP Pearl Harbor & The Explosions, which included the song "Shut Up and Dance", receiving considerable airplay, particularly in the Bay Area. The band's vocalist, Pearl E. Gates (also known as Pearl Harbor), was married to Clash bassist Paul Simonon. After Gates left the band, the remaining members, Peter Bilt and the Stench brothers (stage names for John and Hilary Hanes), performed as Peter Bilt and the Expressions. The band released several albums including Pearl Harbor and the Explosions (1980), Don't Follow Me, I'm Lost Too (1980), Pearls Galore (1984), Island (1984), Here Comes Trouble (1995), and Laedt Zum Tanz (1996).
