Ivan Ivanovitch Petrov, born Hans Krause on February 29, 1920 in Irkoutsk, Russian SFSR, was a Russian bass singer. He began his studies in Moscow and debuted professionally in 1943. Petrov's career took off with notable performances such as the role of Boris Godunov in Moussorgski's opera Boris Godounov. Petrov received significant recognition, including the Stalin Prize of 2nd class in 1950 for his role as Kotchoubeï in Boris Mazeppa, and the Stalin Prize of 1st class in 1951 for his role in Khovanshchina. He was also honored with the title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1959. His discography includes albums like Recital De Arii Din Opere (1961) and Oпера Oпера "Князь Игорь" / Oпера "Русaлка" (1966), showcasing his versatility in classical music. He passed away on December 26, 2003.
