Richard James, born on March 27, 1975 in Carmarthen, Wales, is a singer-songwriter known for his roles as guitarist and bassist. He co-founded Gorky's Zygotic Mynci in 1991, initially serving as a bassist before taking over guitar duties after John Lawrence left the band. James contributed to writing and performing lead vocals on several songs with the band. After Gorky's Zygotic Mynci disbanded in 2006, he released his debut solo album The Seven Sleepers Den. He followed this with We Went Riding (2010) and Pictures in the Morning (2012), both featuring collaborations with artists like Cate Le Bon. James also composed music for screen projects, including the S4C drama series Cara Fi (2014). His album All the New Highways, released in 2015, was nominated for the Welsh Music Prize.
