Piet Veerman, born on March 1, 1943, in Volendam, Netherlands, was a Dutch pop musician. He began playing guitar at age twelve and co-founded The Cats in 1964 with his cousin Jaap Schilder. From 1968, he served as the lead singer for all of the band's singles. In 1975, Veerman released his first solo album, Rollin' on a River. After The Cats disbanded in 1985, Veerman embarked on a successful solo career, releasing his single "Sailin' Home" in 1987, which topped the charts in the Netherlands and Belgium. Throughout his career, he received more than thirty gold records and was decorated as a member of the Order of Orange-Nassau in 2006.
