An influential figure on the hip-hop scene, Greg Street is an American DJ, radio host and producer. Born Gregory Polk in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, he has become one of the most iconic voices of Southern rap and a central figure in the spread of hip-hop culture on the radio since the 1990s. He began his on-air career in the late 1980s, working first at local stations in Mississippi, then in Dallas (K104), before joining V-103 (WVEE-FM) in Atlanta, one of the country's leading urban music stations. Since moving to Georgia, he has become famous for his 6 O'Clock Jump Off show on V-103, a highly influential daily program that has introduced many Southern rap artists, including OutKast, T.I., Ludacris, Rick Ross and Young Jeezy. In addition to his many collaborations, Greg Street has also produced mixtapes and albums, including Six O'Clock Vol. 1 (2001), The Champions: The North Meets the South with DJ Kayslay (2006), Greg Hustle: The Mixtape Vol. 1 (2009), Sertified Worldwide (2009), from which the hit "Turn My Swag On" by Soulja Boy, Keri Hilson and Yung LA was taken, and Nappy University, Vol. 2 with DJ Smallz and Nappy Roots in 2010. Although less present in the studio, this pioneer of Southern rap continues to host radio shows. He released the singles "Santa Do It (For the Ho, Ho, Ho's)" in 2019 and the self-celebratory "Greg Street" in 2024.
