Anarchic System, a French pop group originating from Lille, was formed in 1972. The band consisted of five musicians who were previously part of other rock groups in northern France. Their breakthrough came when they were chosen to record a cover of "Popcorn" by Hot Butter at Paul de Senneville's studio. This decision was influenced by Christophe Lerouge's proficiency with the Minimoog synthesizer. The success of "Popcorn", which sold 700,000 copies, led to the release of two more singles, "Carmen Brasilia" and "Royal Summer", before the group officially signed in 1973. In 1975, Anarchic System released their album Generation, which reached number five on the Belgian charts. The single "Popcorn" from this album also topped the Belgian charts, reaching Number ten in the Netherlands and Number thirteen in Germany. The band embarked on extensive tours across northern France, Belgium, Italy, and Great Britain. Despite an opportunity to be signed by Decca Records, disagreements led to their disbandment in 1978. Post-split, the title "Movie Star" was produced without Anarchic System's involvement.
