Lisa Moorish, born Lisa Moorish on January 16, 1972 in Walworth, London, is a British singer. Raised by her mother and aunt in Brixton after her Jamaican father left the family, Moorish discovered her musical vocation at age seven. Her first exposure to live music came through her stepfather, who worked with Steel Pulse. Moorish's career began when an agent from Bros helped her sign with Jive Records. Her debut single "Rock To The Beat" was released in 1989. After a second single failed to gain traction, she was dropped by the label and signed with Polydor, which attempted to steer her towards house music—a direction she rejected, leading to her dismissal. She then joined Go! Discs and released several notable tracks including "I'm Your Man" in 1995, featuring George Michael on backing vocals. In 2004, Moorish formed the group Kill City with Pete Jones, releasing their first EP White Boys, Brown Girl. The single "Hooligans On E", co-written by Pete Doherty, was also released that year. Moorish contributed to various charitable projects, including recordings for Strummerville and The Help Album. She supported campaigns such as Love Music Hate Racism and performed with Drew McConnell for Crisis.
