Echoes of Swing, a German jazz quartet formed in 1998, consisted of Colin T. Dawson on trumpet, Chris Hopkins on alto saxophone, clarinet, and band leadership, Bernd Lhotzky on piano, and Oliver Mewes on drums. The band emerged from a spontaneous jam session in 1997, and Hopkins founded the group, which debuted at the international JazzAscona festival the following year. Initially focusing on jazz styles of the 1920s and 1930s, they later expanded into bebop and incorporated original compositions. Their debut album Harlem Reflections was released in 1998, followed by notable works such as Message from Mars (2012), which won the Prix de l’Académie du Jazz and the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. The group has performed over 1,000 concerts across Europe, North America, Japan, New Zealand, and the South Pacific. Echoes of Swing received the Swinging Hamburg Jazz-Award in 2011.
