Maxi & Chris Garden, born Meike Gärtner on June 29, 1974, in Hanau and Chris Gärtner on December 29, 1950, in Zellhausen, were a German pop duo consisting of mother and daughter. The duo gained initial attention in 1987 when they placed second at the German national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest with "Frieden für die Teddybär’n". Their breakthrough came in 1988 when they won the German national final and represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin with "Lied für einen Freund", produced by Ralph Siegel. The song reached number 14, marking their highest international achievement. Following their Eurovision appearance, Maxi & Chris Garden had several national and international television performances. Meike Gärtner later pursued a solo career, releasing multiple albums including In Search of Your Dreams (2009), Meike Garden singt eigene und internationale Songs solo am Piano (2013), Perlentage (2015), and Wie es mir gefällt (2017). She also achieved a Top 10 chart placement in Austria as part of the trio Aschenputtel with "Ich kann dich heilen". Meike Gärtner's musical journey continued with roles in various musical productions, including Rainhard Fendrich’s Wake Up, and comedic performances in the revue Vorsicht: Weiblich!.
