Bayon

Bayon, a German band formed in 1971 in East Germany, was founded by Christoph Theusner and Sonny Thet. Emerging from the Garage Players, they blended classical, electronic, folk, jazz, and rock music. Their first LP, Bayon, released in 1977, featured adaptations of classical pieces and original compositions like the "Suite Nr. 3". Bayon composed the soundtrack for the film Tiefer blauer Schnee (1981). In 2006, their song "Stell Dich mitten in den Regen" was featured in the film Das Leben der Anderen. The band received the Ehren-RUTH award for world music in 2010. Bayon's activities ceased following Christoph Theusner's death in July 2023.
