Philip Douglas Broadhurst was a pianist and composer from New Zealand known for his contributions to jazz music. He studied at Massey University and began his career playing regularly in Auckland. Broadhurst performed with notable artists such as Johnny Griffin, Ronnie Scott, and Scott Hamilton. He hosted the radio program Art of Jazz on Radio New Zealand for over two decades and led the jazz studies program at the New Zealand School of Music from 2000 to 2016. He was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2001 and won multiple Jazz Tui Awards, including Jazz Record of the Year three times. His notable albums include "Delayed Reaction" (2011), "Flaubert's Dance" (2013), and "Panacea" (2015). Broadhurst passed away on April 26, 2020.
