Cath Carroll, born August 25, 1960 in Chipping Sodbury, England, is a British singer, songwriter, and writer. She began her musical career playing guitar in the post-punk band Property of... in 1978. In 1979, she co-founded Glass Animals, which was renamed Gay Animals in 1980 before disbanding in 1984. She subsequently formed the indie pop band Miaow, releasing the single “Belle Vue” (1985) and recording sessions for John Peel on BBC radio. Carroll’s solo debut album, England Made Me (1991), appeared on Factory Records, followed by True Crime Motel (1995) on TeenBeat Records, the self-titled album Cath Carroll (2000) on Heart and Soul, and The Gondoliers of Ghost Lake (2002) on LTM. Her collaborations include the song “King Creole” (1990) with Steve Albini for the compilation The Last Temptation of Elvis, and contributing vocals to Trembling Blue Stars on “The Imperfections of Memory” (2010).
