Centaurus-A, a metal band from Cologne, Germany, was founded in 2000 by Maik Matanovic on guitar, Patrick Schröder on drums, and Michael Ahlgrimm on bass. The group released two early demos, Last Step Line and Nimbus, before completing their lineup in 2003 with the addition of guitarist Hernan Martinez and singer Johannes Henke. Their first studio-recorded demo, Narcotic, was released that same year. Centaurus-A's debut album, Side Effects Expected, was recorded in April 2007 and officially released in 2009 under Listenable Records. Following the album's release, the band toured extensively across Europe, sharing stages with notable acts such as Gojira and Hatesphere, and participating in festivals like Metalcamp. Their second album, Means of Escape, was released on June 13, 2018. Centaurus-A was known for their blend of technical death metal and thrash metal, often incorporating elements of melodic death metal and groove metal into their music.
