House of Freaks was a two-man band formed in Richmond, Virginia, in the mid-1980s. The group consisted of Bryan Harvey on guitar and vocals, and Johnny Hott on percussion. Their single, "Bottom of the Ocean", marked their initial foray into the music scene. House of Freaks released their first album, Monkey on a Chain Gang, in 1987, which received critical acclaim. They followed this with the EP All My Friends (1989) and the albums Tantilla (1989), Cakewalk (1991), and Invisible Jewel (1994). Notable songs include "Sun Gone Down" from Tantilla and "Rocking Chair" from Cakewalk. After the band's breakup, Harvey and Hott joined various projects. Tragically, Bryan Harvey, his wife Kathryn, and their daughters Stella and Ruby were found murdered on New Year's Day 2006.
