Major Maker was formed in Toronto, Ontario, in 2006 by Bulgarian‑born Todor Kobakov, a University of Toronto classical‑piano graduate, and singer‑songwriter Lindy Vopnfjörð. The album All Allusion was released in 2006. Their breakout came when the single "Rollercoaster," on the People Carrier EP from 2007, was used in a Maynards candy commercial; the 30‑second spot drove online attention and the band released an extended single in July 2007 that reached number 57 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 after twelve weeks. The duo followed with Funky Lady EP in 2008. Major Maker achieved a Number 1 position on CBC Radio 3’s The R3‑30 charts in May 2013, underscoring Major Maker’s influence on Canada’s indie‑rock scene.
