Music Composer & Flutist (Bansuri)
BAPU PADMANABHA –
Entered musical fantasy with a flute purchased at a village festival and became obsessed with the flute that he started idolizing Pt. Hariparasad Churasia as his Guru. After a deep search finally in 1999 Bapu was able to meet his idol and began the learning process. Bapu gave a different dimension to the modernist music movement by eliminating shallow dichotomies and binaries that figured quite prominently in most other younger performers of India. Worked with Singers like Hariharan, Shaan, and Shankar Mahadevan.
His effort of blending tradition with modernity was often transparent and went beyond reductionist ideological positions. On the other hand, the textures of his expressions supported by sound patterns and intense experimental content made him the most significant musician of postmodern India. Bapu's Music has been released by "The Ministry of External Affairs Government of India" under the title "Music as therapy". Bapu also tries to institutionalize his thoughts by establishing "Aantardhwani" which aims at linking modern problems to the traditional root of sound and spirituality through creative expressions.
