Georges Arthur Plunket, known professionally as Georges Plonquitte, was born on October 7, 1948, in Pointe-Noire, Guadeloupe. He began his music career as a singer and founded the group Typical Combo with friends Daniel Dimbas and Harry Simonette in 1968. The orchestra included notable musicians such as Georges Simmonet on piano and Philogène Astasie on trumpet. Plonquitte's early work included directing the first 45-tour single for the Aiglons in 1973. His debut album, Cadence Linda, was released in 1975, followed by Et Cie in 1977 and Georges Plonquitte G.P. Orchestra in 1980. Notable songs include "Rosalie" and "Cadence Linda". Plonquitte passed away on November 6, 2006 due to complications while awaiting a transplant.
