Ole Amund Gjersvik was born on December 10, 1963, in Bergen, Norway. He is a Norwegian jazz musician and composer known for his work as an upright bass player. He studied at the Grieg Academy and Bergen Conservatory of Music, where he later taught. Gjersvik's early career saw him leading various ensembles, including trios, quartets, quintets, and the tango orchestra Combo Tango. His debut album Poems for Trio was released in 1988 with Karl Seglem and Kåre Thomsen. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with notable artists such as Kaizers Orchestra, Ketil Bjørnstad, Ole Paus, Jan Eggum, Herborg Kråkevik, and Sissel Kyrkjebø. Gjersvik's discography includes over 50 albums, with standout releases like A Voice from the Past (1990), Milonga Triste (1998), and Circus (2006). He founded Acoustic Records in 1990.
