Samim Winiger, known professionally as Samim, is a Swiss-Iranian DJ and producer of electronic music. Born in Switzerland, he discovered his passion for electronic music at an early age through genres such as hip hop and industrial music. Alongside Michal Ho, Samim released several titles under the name Samim & Michal. In 2004, Samim temporarily halted his work due to cancer but later moved to Berlin, where he began releasing a series of 12-inch singles on labels like Circus Company, Moonharbour, and Tuningspork. His breakthrough came in the summer of 2007 with the release of "Heater", which combined accordion sounds with ethnic elements from the Colombian song "Cumbia Cienaguera" by Andrés Paz Barros. The track became a hit across Europe, reaching number 6 on the Dutch Top 40 chart and being included in the Ministry of Sound's 2008 compilation The Rush. Following this success, Samim released his debut solo album Flow in September 2007. Throughout his career, he collaborated with notable artists such as Róisín Murphy, Shaggy, Robyn, and Diplo, contributing remixes to their works.
