Olaf Kübler, born September 8, 1937, in Berlin, Germany, was a saxophonist known for his work in jazz, rock, and pop music. Introduced to jazz and blues by American soldiers after World War II, he began playing professionally at age 17. In 1958, he performed with the Marburger Mac Reimann Sextett. Kübler studied jazz under Kurt Edelhagen and was a member of the Jazz Cookers. He collaborated with musicians such as Gunter Hampel and Don Menza, and appeared at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1967. In 1969, he transitioned to rock and pop, managing Amon Düül II and working with Klaus Doldinger on film and television scores. He was a founding member of Passport and collaborated extensively with Udo Lindenberg for over a decade. Kübler passed away on September 12, 2024, in Montabaur.
