Fleurety, a Norwegian avant-garde metal band from Ytre Enebakk, was founded in 1991 by Alexander Nordgaren and Svein Egil Hatlevik. The duo released their first demo, Black Snow, in 1993, leading to the EP A Darker Shade of Evil in 1994. Their debut album Min Tid Skal Komme (1995) incorporated acoustic, psychedelic, and jazz elements. After a hiatus, Fleurety returned with the EP Last-Minute Lies in 1999 and their second album Department of Apocalyptic Affairs in 2000, featuring collaborations with notable musicians from bands like Mayhem and Arcturus. The band continued to evolve stylistically, integrating various genres into their sound. In 2017, they released The White Death, showcasing a return to the eclectic approach of their debut.
