Adolph Sender Charles Deutsch, born on October 20, 1897, in London, England, was a British-American composer, conductor, and arranger. He immigrated to the United States in 1911 and began his career as a movie house musician in Buffalo, New York. Deutsch's composing journey started on Broadway in the 1920s, orchestrating shows like As Thousands Cheer by Irving Berlin. He transitioned to Hollywood in the late 1930s, working on films such as The Maltese Falcon (1941) and Some Like It Hot (1959). Deutsch won Oscars for his background music for Oklahoma! (1955), and for conducting the music for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) and Annie Get Your Gun (1950). His final film score was for Go Naked in the World. Deutsch died of heart failure on January 1, 1980.
