Inga Juuso, born on October 5, 1945, in Jokkmokk, Sweden, was a Sami-Norwegian actress and musician from Norway. She grew up in Alta after her family returned to Norway following World War II. Juuso learned the traditional Sami singing technique of joiking as a child and later became an advocate for Sami languages and culture. Her music career began with the release of her debut album Ravddas ravdii in 1991, which showcased her unique blend of joik and electronic music. Notable releases include Váimmu Ivnnit / Patterns From The Heart (2008) with Inga Juuso Group. She won the Folkelarm award for "Volksmusikerin des Jahres" in 2012. Juuso also had a notable acting career, appearing in films like Die Rebellion von Kautokeino (2005). She passed away on August 23, 2014, after a prolonged illness.
