Tore Johansen, born December 23, 1977, in Bodø, is a Norwegian jazz trumpeter and composer,. In 1994, Johansen formed a quartet with his brother Roger Johansen and joined the Bodø Big Band led by Henning Gravrok,. He studied at the Trondheim Musikkonservatorium from 1996 to 2000 and later served as a lecturer there,. Johansen toured the United States, Scandinavia, and Japan with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and Chick Corea. His discography includes the albums Man, Woman and Child (2000), Happy Days (2002), Rainbow Session (2007), Natt, Stille (2010), and Nord (2011). He collaborated with musicians including Karin Krog, Steve Swallow, Kenny Wheeler, and Jan Gunnar Hoff,. Johansen received the Nordlandsprofil prize in 2002 and the Stubøprisen in 2005. He became an associate professor for jazz studies at the University of Stavanger.
