Lola Violeta Ana-Maria Bobescu, better known as Lola Bobesco, was a Belgian violinist of Romanian origin. She began her musical career as a child prodigy, giving her first recital at the age of six with her father, Aurel Bobescu. In 1934, she won 1st prize at the Conservatoire de Paris under Jules Boucherit and made her professional debut at the Concerts Colonne in 1936 under Paul Paray. After establishing an early international career, she continued performing across Europe and became associated with both solo and chamber music repertoire. Following World War II, she settled in Brussels in 1946 with her husband, pianist Jacques Genty, with whom she maintained a long-standing musical partnership. Bobesco was active as both performer and ensemble leader in Belgium, including the founding of chamber ensembles such as Les Solistes de Bruxelles and her involvement in the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia. Her repertoire included major violin sonatas by composers such as Beethoven, Brahms, Franck, Fauré, and Debussy. Lola Bobesco passed away on September 4, 2003, in Sart-lez-Spa, Belgium.
