João Lucas & Marcelo are a Brazilian sertanejo universitário duo formed in 2011. Comprised of multi-instrumentalists Rafael "João Lucas" Ribeiro de França and Marcelo Bernardes de Oliveira, the group is known for their unique take on sertanejo, which incorporates elements from other popular genres such as funk, pagode, and samba. Even though they made their official debut in 2011 with the album João Lucas & Marcelo, it wasn't until 2012 that they finally broke into the mainstream with the single "Eu Quero Tchu, Eu Quero Tcha." Shortly after being released, the song became a massive hit in Brazil, reaching the top of both the Billboard Brasil Hot 100 and Hot Popular Songs chart. Apart from being featured in the soundtrack of the soap opera Avenida Brasil and the Brazilian version of The Simpsons, "Eu Quero Tchu, Eu Quero Tcha" was further popularized by football player Neymar, who re-enacted the song's choreography to celebrate his hundredth goal in the Brazilian league. Later that year, João Lucas & Marcelo followed this success with the single "Louca Louquinha," recorded in collaboration with MC K9 and Dennis DJ. Over the next few years, the duo released the albums A Vida É Uma Festa! (Ao Vivo) (2013) and Agora É Pra Valer (2015) before calling it quits in 2019.
