Evermore, a pop-rock band from New Zealand, were formed in 1999 in Feilding. The group consisted of three brothers: Jon Hume on guitar and vocals, Peter Hume on keyboards and bass guitar, and Dann Hume on drums, guitar, and vocals. Evermore's early career began with winning the Rockquest competition for school groups in 2000 as a four-piece band that included Richard Higham on bass guitar. They used their prize money to set up their home studio, Red Sky Studio, where they recorded their first independent EP, On the Way. After Richard Higham quit the band, Evermore continued to play with a revolving line-up of members and released several EPs, including "Slipping Away" in 2002. Their breakthrough came with the release of their debut studio album, Dreams, in September 2004. The album peaked at number 15 on the ARIA albums chart and included notable singles like "It’s Too Late", which reached the Top 20 in Australia. Their subsequent albums, Real Life (2006) and Truth of the World: Welcome to the Show (2009), achieved significant chart success, with Real Life receiving platinum certification from the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA). The band's highest-charting single, "Light Surrounding You", peaked at number one in Australia. Evermore were nominated for seven ARIA Music Awards and won two New Zealand Music Awards during their career. They also received an APRA Silver Scroll songwriting award and the Channel V Oz Artist of the Year Award. After ceasing activity in 2014, each member went on to pursue a solo career.
