Alejandro Román stood out on the Spanish scene as one of the most significant composers of his generation. Critics speak of his music as "eclectic, original and very personal", "with great influence from jazz, cinema, contemporary music and pop and rock", a music "with a sound world full of sensuality and elegance".
His works include solo instruments, chamber music, singing, orchestra, electroacoustic and music for film, theater and dance, which have been performed all over the world. He has been awarded several prizes for musical creation, including the National Music Prize "Cultura Viva", received in 2015, for his contribution as a composer, researcher and pedagogue.
He has received commissions from different institutions, highlighting the composition of the work required for the 56th International Piano Competition "Premio Jaén".
