Sophie Auster, born on July 6, 1987 in Brooklyn, New York City, is an American singer and songwriter. She began studying music at age eight and made her acting debut in Washington Square a year later. At 16, Sophie Auster recorded her first album with musicians Michael Hearst and Joshua Camp of One Ring Zero, released by Naïve Records. In 2015, she released the full-length LP Dogs and Men. She won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in 2016 for "Little Bird" and Cosmopolitan Magazine's singer of the year award in Spain in 2017. Her album Next Time, produced by Tore Johansson, was released in April 2019 under BMG Music worldwide. The lead single "Mexico" from Next Time is featured in the film The Jesus Rolls.
