Mario Ruiz Armengol, born on March 17, 1914, in Veracruz, Mexico, was a pianist and composer known for his work in classical and popular music. At age 15, he debuted as an orchestra conductor with Leopoldo Beristaín's company. He joined the founding group of XEW radio station at 16, establishing himself as a composer, arranger, and orchestra director. Ruiz Armengol studied harmony and counterpoint with José Rolón in 1936 and began composing for films in 1942, including scores for Santa and Resurrección. His extensive body of work includes over 300 pieces for piano, boleros, symphonies, and Cuban dances. Notable works include "Preludio para Piano y Arpa" and 24 pieces for solo harp. Ruiz Armengol passed away on December 22, 2002, in Cancún.
