Domenico Savino, born on January 13, 1882, in Taranto, Italy, was an Italian conductor and composer who completed his classical music education at the Royal Conservatory of Naples. He migrated to the United States early in the 20th century and began his career by bringing silent motion picture star Rudolph Valentino to the U.S. Savino conducted notable orchestras such as the CBS Symphony and collaborated with prominent figures like Paul Whiteman. He became a partner in Robbins Music, a leading American music publishing firm, and composed over 2500 published works, many under the pseudonym "D. Onivas." Domenico Savino is known for adapting "Moonlight Love" from Debussy's Clair de Lune and arranged music for industry giants, including Hugo Winterhalter. In his later years, he recorded extensively with the Rome Symphony Orchestra. Domenico Savino passed away in 1973.
