Jonny King, born John "Jonny" King in 1965 in New York City, is an American jazz pianist. He began playing piano at a young age and performed in New York clubs as a teenager. In the early 1980s, King studied under Tony Aless and Mulgrew Miller and played with Art Blakey. King released his debut album In From the Cold in 1994 on Criss Cross Records, followed by Notes from the Underground (1995) and The Meltdown (1997), both on Enja Records. These albums featured collaborations with notable musicians. King also authored the book What Jazz Is, exploring the New York jazz scene around 1997. Additionally, he graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Law School and has worked as an attorney specializing in copyright law.
